The Flyers would act as a third-party broker in a Dylan Larkin deal between the Wild and Red Wings, and could absorb Yakov Trenin's $3.5 million contract.

The Philadelphia Flyers are willing to play middleman in the Dylan Larkin saga.
According to Daily Faceoff's Anthony Di Marco, team sources say the Flyers would act as a third-party broker to help the Wild and Red Wings finally get a deal done, and that could mean taking on Yakov Trenin's contract.
Here's the problem for Minnesota.
Larkin carries an $8.7 million cap hit, and the Wild don't have the room to fit him without sending money back.
Trenin, 29, has this season and next left on a deal worth $3.5 million per year, and his name has floated around as a possible cap dump since last spring.
He also owns a 10-team no-trade clause.

What the Flyers would want back

Philadelphia isn't chasing Larkin himself.
Per Daily Faceoff, the Flyers would absorb Trenin for the right price, and Charlie Stramel is a young Wild center they like.
He could be the cost of doing business for taking on the rest of that contract.
A Central Division executive noted Detroit has the cap space to absorb Trenin itself, so the Flyers would only step in if needed.

Where the Larkin situation stands

Larkin asked for a trade back in June, and Detroit has now suspended him without pay after he decided to sit out until a deal gets done.
He has widened his approved trade list to 10 teams to help move things along.
Minnesota is reportedly offering prospect Danila Yurov, a veteran roster player and several first-round picks.
Detroit, though, has been pushing for NHL-ready players instead of picks, and Wild sources have shown little interest in sweetening the offer.
A third team in the mix could be what finally gets this moving, so keep an eye on Philadelphia.

Should the Wild pay a big price to land Larkin?
