Star defenseman Jakob Chychrun officially traded to Washington
GMs Steve Staios and Brian MacLellan have brokered a blockbuster trade sending Jakob Chychrun to Washington.
The Washington Capitals and Ottawa Senators have brokered a trade sending Jakob Chychrun from Canada's capital to America's.
OTT trading Jakob Chychrun to Washington for Nick Jensen and a 2026 3rd NEWS | The Washington Capitals have acquired defenseman Jakob Chychrun from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for defenseman Nick Jensen and a 2026 third-round pick.
Jakob Chychrun, acquired by WSH, is a two-way defenceman who's strong on the puck, has a big shot, and an active defensive stick. Fit was never there in Ottawa, but he has plenty of tools.
Ottawa previously traded away the 12th overall pick in the 2023 draft to acquire Chychrun. He has one year left on his current contract and Washington will try to resign him over the next year.
Ottawa gets a serviceable defenseman in Nick Jensen in return and Jensen has two years left on his current contract.
