Jordan Binnington trade could be coming soon as two franchises show interest

The goalie market just got more interesting in the Metropolitan Division. According to insider David Pagnotta, St. Louis Blues netminder Jordan Binnington is a name to watch for both the New York Rangers and the New Jersey Devils.
Pagnotta laid out the thinking behind the connection:
Jordan Binnington is certainly gonna be somebody on [the Rangers'] radar; I look at Jersey going, if things aren't strong in net for the Devils...do they go in that direction
Why the Rangers Need Help
New York's crease has been thrown into turmoil. Igor Shesterkin is done for the season following knee surgery, leaving the Rangers without their franchise goalie.
Binnington, a Stanley Cup winner with St. Louis in 2019, would bring playoff experience to a group that suddenly lacks a proven starter.
His contract also helps the case. The 33-year-old carries a $6 million cap hit and is in the final year of his deal, which makes him more of a short-term rental than a long-term commitment. That flexibility appeals to clubs wary of locking up cap space in an aging goalie.
Devils Could Be Next in Line
New Jersey already sent Jacob Markstrom to the Florida Panthers this summer, so Pagnotta's caveat about the Devils carries weight. If their goaltending falters, GM Sunny Mehta may feel pressure to find an upgrade, and Binnington has been linked to Jersey on and off for years.
There is a catch. Binnington owns a 10-team no-trade list, so he has real control over where he ends up. Whether the Rangers or Devils appear on it will shape how far any talks can go. Any suitor must also meet the Blues' asking price, and St. Louis has been exploring its options.
For now, this is a rumor worth monitoring. With Shesterkin sidelined and the Devils still searching for stability, Binnington remains one of the more intriguing goalies who could be available.
Expect the chatter to grow if either team's crease struggles continue. The Blues will likely field plenty of calls.
