Several NHL players under fire after wild footage of them at World Cup surfaces

One of them actually owns a soccer club.

The group hit hockey Twitter fast.

Cole Caufield, Dylan Larkin, Trevor Zegras and Filip Forsberg turned up tarps-off at MetLife Stadium, and the jokes wrote themselves.

Kittle posted the selfie and begged the NFL to keep the grass.

Everyone else fixated on four shirtless hockey players and the obvious question: has anyone in this photo ever actually won anything?

Trevor Zegras was also spotted later on with the crew.

The better question is why one of them looked so completely at home. Forsberg wasn't a hockey player wandering into a soccer match by accident.

Since 2023, the Predators' all-time leading scorer has been a minority owner of MLS side Nashville SC, sharing the group with Giannis Antetokounmpo, Reese Witherspoon and Derrick Henry.

He follows the club closely enough that he leaked their new 2026 jersey earlier this year.

So the shirtless Swede screaming at a World Cup final in July isn't a bit. It's an owner at his sport's biggest night, months before NHL camps open.

Nobody in that shirtless crew has a championship ring, but Forsberg carries the cruelest résumé of the group.

He lost the 2017 Stanley Cup Final to Pittsburgh. Then, as a Nashville SC owner, he watched his club lose the 2023 Leagues Cup final to Lionel Messi's Inter Miami on penalties.

That is what made the photo read as a bit to everyone else. To Forsberg, a World Cup final is basically a work trip.

Caufield knows the feeling from Montreal's 2021 Final run, and Larkin is still chasing his first trip.

But Forsberg is the rare athlete to reach a championship stage in two different sports and leave both empty-handed.
