Elliotte Friedman revealed Radko Gudas was ruled out before puck drop in Edmonton, and Joel Quenneville now has a blue-line problem with Toronto coming Monday.

Gudas carries a $4,000,000 cap hit on the last year of his deal, so this is lineup stress first and contract clock second.
Friedman's post is here:
Sportsnet added that Gudas suffered the injury Thursday in Calgary and was seen in a walking boot on Saturday.
That changes more than one matinee in Edmonton. It puts Anaheim's nastiest right-shot defender in doubt for the first Ducks-Maple Leafs meeting since Gudas was suspended five games for the kneeing play that ended Auston Matthews' season.
For Anaheim, the hockey issue is simple. Gudas averages 16:39, starts plenty in his own zone, and absorbs hard minutes so Quenneville can spread the workload across the rest of the blue line.
He also brings a layer this roster still leans on. In 52 games, Gudas has 156 hits and 83 blocked shots, and those are not easy touches to replace on the second half of a back-to-back travel swing.
Anaheim had been rolling into this spot. The Ducks won four straight Thursday in Calgary, and that victory pushed their point streak to 6 games.

Why Monday just got bigger

Monday was already going to carry heat because of Matthews. Now it could become a story about absence instead of confrontation. That matters for a Ducks team that has been getting major offensive juice from Mikael Granlund's recent surge, not just from old-school pushback.
The next marker is Sunday's testing. If doctors shut Gudas down, Anaheim loses its captain, a heavy matchup defender, and one of the few players on this roster who can drag emotion into a game without needing the puck.
This is not just about whether Gudas wants to play Toronto. It's about whether the Ducks can control a spotlight game if one of their tone-setters is stuck in a boot.
