This evening trade reports are starting to heat up once again this time involving the Pittsburgh Penguins acquiring former sixth-overall pick David Jiricek.
A new report has come out tonight from Rob Rossi of The Athletic linking the Pittsburgh Penguins to a major trade that would land David Jiricek.
Over the last several weeks reports have come out that David Jiricek's time with the Blue Jackets will come to an end soon as the two sides have grown frustrated with one another.
Since these reports about David Jiricek's future have begun to circulate there has been a lot of speculation regarding where his new home will be.
Reports over the last 24 hours have started to narrow the field of teams who are potentially interested in David Jiricek.
NHL insider Frank Seravalli through his sources believes that the current frontrunners are the Minnesota Wild, Philadelphia Flyers, and Pittsburgh Penguins.
With the Pittsburgh Penguins officially connected to David Jiricek a report from The Athletic confirmed that the team would be willing to give up a huge offer to land the former 6th overall pick.
Report confirms the Penguins are willing to go all in to land David Jiricek
In a new article for The Athletic NHL reporter and insider Rob Rossi spoke about the Penguins' side of these reports.
According to Rob Rossi the Pittsburgh Penguins are willing to give up any of their prospects including
Rutger McGroarty who they got in a trade with the Winnipeg Jets this summer.
It's my understanding, said Rossi, that they told (Columbus GM) Don Waddell 'You can have any prospect you want', including McGoarty.
It seems as though Kyle Dubas really would like to land David Jiricek and add him to the Pittsburgh Penguins lineup for this season and beyond.
This would be a huge move for the Penguins who currently lack a top defensive prospect who can take the mantle of Kris Letang and
Erik Karlsson in the future.
While David Jiricek has struggled to find his way in the NHL so far he still has that type of potential if he hits his ceiling and it seems the Pittsburgh Penguins see a path for that to happen.
As this situation continues to develop we will pass along the latest news on David Jiricek's future and potential new home.
