Tonight, a new report has named former New York Islanders head coach Patrick Roy as the front runner for a new head coaching job in the NHL.
The New York Islanders made the shocking decision to part ways with head coach Patrick Roy after he spent parts of three seasons with the organization.
To replace him, the Islanders brought in veteran head coach Pete DeBoer who is expected to be with the team for the Stanley Cup Playoffs and beyond.
While the news was likely shocking and frustrating for Roy who will now watch the team he coached all season head to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, he likely won’t be out of a job for long.
According to a new report, Roy has become an early favorite to potentially become the Ottawa Senators head coach.

As of now, the Senators have not parted ways with current head coach Travis Green.
However, the Senators are on the verge of missing the playoffs after qualifying last season and if they do miss heads might roll.
If the Sens do part ways with Green then Roy becomes a clear favorite to land the job as he has an immense history with Ottawa in the past.
Roy was considered for the Ottawa head coaching position back in 2019 before the team ultimately hired D.J. Smith which was a clear mistake.
Now, the Senators under new owner Michael Andlauer have a chance to right the wrongs of the past and bring in Roy to get this young team back on track and in playoff contention.
