The Montreal Canadiens could be an intriguing destination for Philadelphia Flyers forward Travis Konecny, with Bleacher Report's Joe Yerdon identifying the Canadiens as a potential landing spot for the veteran winger.

Konecny would bring a combination of offensive production, competitive fire, and agitation that could make him an appealing addition to Montreal's forward group.
Yerdon believes the 29-year-old could help the Canadiens replace an important element of Brendan Gallagher's game as the organization continues to build toward contention.
Adding Konecny to the Canadiens' roster would help replace the grit, feistiness, and ability to frustrate opponents that Brendan Gallagher provided for so many years. Konecny's similarities to the former Habs fixture would make him a natural fit
The comparison makes sense for a Montreal team that could benefit from another top-six winger capable of contributing offensively while making life difficult for opposing defenders.

Why Travis Konecny Could Be a Fit for Montreal

Konecny has established himself as a productive forward during his time in Philadelphia. He recorded 27 goals and 68 points in 77 games during the 2025-26 season, following a career-high 76-point campaign in 2024-25.
That scoring ability would give Montreal another established offensive option alongside its young core. His willingness to compete for pucks, play with an edge, and get under opponents' skin could also help bring a different dimension to the Canadiens' lineup.
Gallagher built his reputation in Montreal through his relentless forechecking, net-front presence and determination. Konecny offers some similar qualities, although his offensive production would provide an additional attraction.

The Contract Could Complicate a Potential Trade

Acquiring Konecny would not be a simple transaction. The Flyers winger carries an $8.75 million annual salary-cap hit through the 2032-33 season, making him a significant long-term investment.
His full no-movement clause is another major consideration. Konecny would need to approve a move to Montreal, and the Canadiens would have to determine whether the asking price and financial commitment make sense.
For general manager Kent Hughes, the opportunity to add an established winger could be appealing, but the cost would need to fit the team's long-term plans.
Yerdon's report makes Montreal a destination worth watching, not a confirmed trade partner. Whether the Canadiens pursue Konecny remains to be seen, but his blend of scoring, intensity and experience makes the connection an intriguing one for Habs fans.
