The Jets claimed goalie Clay Stevenson off waivers from the Capitals, while Tyson Jost landed on waivers for the Predators after signing a new deal Monday.
The Winnipeg Jets just added a goalie.
Clay Stevenson was claimed off waivers from the Washington Capitals on Monday, and he was the only player grabbed from Sunday's huge 71-player waiver list.
Everyone else cleared.
Stevenson is 27, an undrafted Alberta native who signed with Washington in 2022.
He has five career NHL games, going 3-2-0 with a 2.60 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage.
Four of those came last season, when he went 3-1-0 with a 2.00 GAA and a .921 save percentage.
Why the Jets made the move
Goaltending help was the talk of waiver day, and Winnipeg was one of the teams pegged as a likely fit.
Stevenson gives them experienced depth and a proven winner.
He played 37 games for the Hershey Bears last season, going 18-13-3 with a 2.62 GAA and a .912 save percentage.
He also helped Hershey win the 2024 Calder Cup.
Washington also waived Jonny Brodzinski, Spencer Smallman and Louie Belpedio. All three cleared and will report to Hershey.
Jost back on the wire
Over in Nashville, Tyson Jost landed on waivers right after the Predators signed him to a one-year, two-way deal for 2026-27.
The 28-year-old forward counts $850,000 against the cap in the NHL and makes $475,000 in the minors, with $500,000 guaranteed.
Jost was in camp on a tryout and played 69 games for Nashville last season, finishing with eight goals and 16 points.
Placing him on waivers keeps him off the opening roster submission, and if he clears he can be assigned to the AHL.
It has been a wild few days on the waiver wire, and the deadline for compliant opening rosters hits at 5 p.m. ET on Monday.
