The suspension comes after Richards was reportedly arrested after an alleged domestic dispute.
Richards began his career as an equipment manager with Pittsburgh's AHL affiliate Wilkes-Barre/Scranton before eventually being called up to the NHL Penguins.
Then, in 2016 Richards has hired by the Florida Panthers where he remained as the team's head equipment manager until this suspension.
Richards also served as the head equipment manager for Team USA over the past two seasons both at the 4 Nations Face-Off as well as the Olympic Games.
Now, the 43-year-old's entire career is in danger of ending after his latest arrest.
As of now, it remains unclear how serious the alleged incident is and whether this will end Richards' time in the NHL entirely.
