BREAKING: Bruins Fans Furious After Blatant Dive By Maple Leafs Star Mitch Marner
The Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins have a long standing rivalry. Tonight that rivalry was intensified by a controversial moment in their game. The play involves Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner blatantly diving to get a call to go his way.
Bruins Fans Furious After Blatant Dive By Leafs Star Marner
Early on in the Maple Leafs contest against the Boston Bruins the Maple Leafs had the puck in the offensive zone. Star forward Mitch Marner had the puck and was looking to take it to the front of the net. Before he could do so he caught a stick to the face from Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo. Once he was hit Marner flailed around and fell to the ground.
In the moment the referees called a penalty on Carlo for slashing but no penalty on Marner for embellishment. This enraged many Bruins fans who used their voice and spoke out on social media.
Marner has in the past been at the center of diving conversations. As of now nothing has changed as far as tonight's game goes. It will be interesting to see if the Bruins bring up how the play was handled after the game. They currently lead the Maple Leafs 3-0.
