The Flyers and Senators have emerged as ideal trade partners and a star forward could be moved.

Senators Need A DeBrincat Replacement

Last offseason, the Ottawa Senators traded away the 7th, 39th, and 3rd-round pick to Chicago in exchange for Alex DeBrincat.
DeBrincat was expected to be a 40 goal scorer in Ottawa with elite talent all around him but he was not and only put up a lackluster 27 goals and 66 points.
In response to this, the Senators traded him away to Detroit with the main return points being Dominik Kubalik and a first-round pick.
Kubalik, a 20-goal scorer in his own right, is not the piece that can fill the DeBrincat-sized hole.

The Flyers Pieces

The Flyers recently went into a total rebuild. They traded away core pieces for future assets and will be looking to finish near the bottom of the standings for the foreseeable future.
While they traded away most of their core, there is still one elite talent yet to be traded, Travis Konecny. Konecny is coming off of a point-per-game campaign that saw him score 31 goals in 60 goals or a 42-goal pace over 82 games.
Konecny also plays with some bite which would complement Senators captain Brady Tkachuk quite nicely.
If the Senators decide to bring in the hometown Konecny would best suit their championship window, they will be forking over an expensive cost.
However, Konecny will cost less than what the Senators paid to get DeBrincat originally and his style of play is more translateable to the Senators' system.
