Hearing the Sens are interested in Fiala from Minnesota. That would certainly be a great fit in the top 6. He turns 26 in July and is on a one year deal at 5.1, and is an RFA this summer. With only one year until UFA status you would want a long term deal in place.— Shawn Simpson (@TSNSimmer) February 9, 2022
Over the last 3 seasons with the Minnesota Wild Kevin Fiala has scored 128 points 156 games, more than any Ottawa Senator during that time. Fiala could be one of the missing pieces to the puzzle for the Senators.
Here's why Minny won't be able to sign Fiala long term. #Parise #Suter #BuyOut #CapHit pic.twitter.com/oMtYaB25y8— Shawn Simpson (@TSNSimmer) February 9, 2022
Fiala is in the final year of a deal that pays him $5,100,000 but will remain an RFA. Thanks to the buyout of Zach Parise & Ryan Suter, the Minnesota Wild simply do not have the cap space to resign this 25 year old to the money he deserves, which could help the Ottawa Senators get this great player at a discounted cost!
