It's certainly surprising that restricted free agent Trevor Zegras is still without a new contract. The former first-round pick and future star should be front and centre in Anaheim's rebuilding plans. However, one insider is brining up an issue that may impact Zegras's future with the Ducks.
Pat Verbeek
On the latest Cam and Strick Podcast, insider Andy Strickland stated that Zegras simply isn't the type of player Anaheim GM Pat Verbeek wants, and a long-term deal may not be on the horizon.
"He's not Pat Verbeek's type of player. I don't know if he is in their long-term plans."
Zegras has brought skill, talent, and a lot of positivity to a team that had some very difficult years. However, he seems to rub some people the wrong way, and Verbeek may be one of them.
Zegras isn't the only Ducks RFA needing a new contract. Defenceman Jamie Drysdale as also sat out the Ducks' training camp as he awaits a new contract.
