NHL referees come under plenty of scrutiny, but thankfully for the league, none of them have ever reacted like a KHL official did recently.
KHL referee under fire for unnecessary outburst
During a recent KHL game, Mikhail Kravets of the Avangard squad was attempting to speak with the referees before this happened.
During the Amur-Avangard game, Avangard head coach Mikhail Kravets was speaking with the referee during a timeout.
Main referee Denis Naumov I guess had enough and replied, "Shut your mouth, bitch!" 😮

Understandably, the official is now facing disciplinary action, as for seemingly no reason, Denis Naumov would go off on the coach, telling him to "shut your mouth, b**ch".
KHL Chief Referee apologizes for crazy scene
While he will still be facing disciplinary action, the KHL's chief referee Alexey Anisimov apologized on his behalf, but admits that he will be subject to potentially harsh punishments.
Overall, criticism of referee's can often go way too far, but there's no need for something like this to happen, so the hope is that he can come back from his likely suspension a better official.
