Recent Top-Five Pick Reveals Surgery May End His NHL Career
A recent fourth overall pick had an important surgery that could come in the way of his future in the NHL.
Fourth Overall Pick's Career in Jeopardy?
During a recent interview with a Finnish newspaper, Jesse Puljujarvi talked about his major hip surgery that keeps him on the sidelines.
The most difficult phase of all was 2.5 weeks after the operation. In the beginning, it was just being able to walk. Now, let's slowly start to wake up the muscles. There are 20-centimeter incisions on both sides of the buttocks. Now, they are constantly trying to gain strength and mobility. It gets better every week.
As Puljujarvi says, a double hip replacement is a long and tough rehab process, and he is expected to miss several months next season.
Puljujarvi's Future
Puljujarvi is still a UFA, and he hasn't heard from any teams. However, the player is confident that offers will come once he's healthy again.
So far, nothing has been heard from the NHL when everyone knows that it will take many more months to get fit. I know that there is some interest in the NHL, but let's wait until I get closer to playing condition.
There's definitely some uncertainty surrounding his future in the NHL, but he hopes to get a chance to prove himself.
