At the trade deadline last season, the newly appointed General Manager Kyle Davidson stated that the team will be entering a rebuild, so all of us fans started to wonder what is going to happen with superstar Patrick Kane who is still producing at an elite level, and captain Jonathan Toews who was coming off a very down season.
Toews missed all of the 2020-21 season with an undisclosed injury, but he made a comeback last season with the Blackhawks. After missing an entire season, he was definitely a step behind last year and his stats showed that. Toews finished the year with 12 goals and 37 points in 71 games.
While he isn't a spring chicken anymore, at the age of 34, Toews can definitely provide more of an offensive season than he had last year and is still very valuable defensively. So far this season he has preformed very well, despite being at the bottom of the standings.
