The Chicago Blackhawks are currently the basement dwellers sitting comfortably in 32 spot. Blackhawks General Manager Kyle Davidson has been doing a great job tanking and acquiring picks and prospects along the way to hopefully building this franchise back into a winner.
While Davidson has already made some big trades in Debrincat and Dach, he has yet to trade two assets that have the potential to bring in the biggest return in Kane & Toews.
However there may have been a wrench thrown into Davidson's plans. Rumours are running rapid that Kane is seriously hurt and could possibly miss the remainder of the season. This was brought up by Hockey Insider Elliotte Friedman on his 32 podcast,
There has been a rumor that Pat Kane has been dealing with something, some kind of injury; some sort of nagging injury for some period of time. And at some point he's going to need a clean-up...I wonder if the solution is: Kane and the Blackhawks agree to a one-year extension, he shuts himself down, he goes and gets whatever procedure he needs, and he comes back next year healthy and refreshed, and we go through this again. - Elliotte Friedman
While a lot of fans were hoping that Kane would remain a Blackhawk for his entire career, there is also a large majority who were hoping to cash in on a trade for him. The best case scenario for both fans were he gets traded at the deadline and returns in the offseason, but it looks as though that might not be happening.
