REPORT: Nathan MacKinnon gives Avalanche deadline to get deal done - Wont talk after the deadline

Stanley Cup Champion Nathan MacKinnon. Words he has been waiting to hear for many seasons after being one of the most dominant players in the league.

For years now MacKinnon has been one of the most underpaid players in the league, after signing a team-friendly deal right before beginning to tear up the league.
As of July 13th, MacKinnon has been eligible to sign a contract extension, and it's not going to come cheap. MacKinnon is expected to almost double his current contract value, if not more. The highest paid player in the NHL right now is Connor McDavid at $12,500,000, but the rumour is MacKinnon could get equal if not more.
Wanting to focus on winning another Stanley Cup next season, MacKinnon also set a deadline with the team to get a deal done or he won't be talking for the rest of the season:
Nathan MacKinnon says his contract extension talks are close and will be done soon and won't be single digits. He hopes it to be done by opening night or he'd prefer not to talk during season.

Joked he doesn't like the label of being most underpaid player in NHL.

MacKinnon may not score the same amount of points as Connor McDavid, but he is widely regarded as the second best player in the league, and if he could stay healthy, his point production is just slightly below McDavids. His agent Pat Brisson was asked about the possibility of MacKinnon being the highest paid player in the league, which he responded with:
