Ever since being drafted 1st overall by the Boston Bruins back in 1997, Joe Thornton has been amongst the League's best play makers. Especially his time in San Jose with Patrick Marleau and the Sharks, where they were one of the best teams in the league for years but unfortunately couldn't win the Stanley Cup.
Now at the age of 43, Thornton is still without a contract for the upcoming season and according to an Instagram post from his wife Tabea, he won't be returning to the Florida Panthers.
Last season Thornton only was able to play 34 games putting up 5 goals and 5 assists. If Thornton still wanted to continue playing, he could likely get a job for a team in Europe for his name alone but Thornton still wants that Stanley Cup.
In 1,714 games Thornton scored 430 goals, and added 1,109 assists with a plus 182 rating.
