REPORT: Former NHL player passes away at young age of 55

In 2022, we lost quite a few hockey icons like Guy Lafleur and Mike Bossy, and now it looks like 2023 is starting off the same way.

Yesterday it was sadly announced that a former 1st round pick from 1992, has passed away at the young age of 55.

Sergei Bautin, who had the nickname of ''Bam Bam'' played in 132 National Hockey League games during his career, and even won a Gold Medal.

He was a member of the Winnipeg Jets, who drafted him 17th overall, as well as the Detroit Red Wings and San Jose Sharks for short periods.


During his career he wracked up 5 goals, 25 assists and 176 penalty minutes.

NHL alumnus Sergei Bautin has passed away at the age of 55.

Bautin played 132 games in the NHL with Winnipeg, Detroit, and San Jose, spending almost the entirety of his four year North American career with the #Jets.

Bautin was drafted 17th overall by Winnipeg in 1992.

After leaving the NHL, he played in a few other European leagues, up until his retirement in 2004.
