It's been 5 years now since long-time New York Islanders captain John Tavares made the controversial move to leave the Islanders and sign with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Instead of telling the Islanders during the season that he would like to leave, so the Islanders could trade him for some assets, he waited until free agency and left, leaving them with nothing.
This, even 5 years later is still not sitting well with Islanders fans.
The other night the New York Islanders were hosting the Toronto Maple Leafs, in what finished as a 7-2 whooping for the Islanders, and this fan made a classless move and threw a Tavares jersey on the ice:
Surprisingly though, it was a Maple Leafs Tavares jersey, so either a Maple Leafs fan was unhappy with the play of Tavares that night, or an Islanders fan purchased a Leafs jersey just to toss it.
