The core four consisting of John Tavares, William Nylander, Mitch Marner, and Auston Matthews has been nothing short of spectacular in the regular season but still has yet to be pivotal in the playoffs.
NHL insider Chris Johnston made an announcement on what the believed path of the Leafs is with the core four.
This is huge news considering all of the speculations but that does not mean a core four member does not get moved.
If a Core Four Member Gets Traded, Who Is It?
It will come down to three players. John Tavares has a full No Movement Clause which means he can reject any trade anywhere so he is off the table.
Between Matthews, Marner, and Nylander, the order of most likely to be traded goes Nylander, Matthews, Marner.
Matthews is in his final year of a contract and if he vocalizes a desire to leave the team, then he will be traded.
Nylander is also in the final year of a contract and he could be moved to create more cap space to acquire depth talent.
