Pierre Luc Dubois was drafted 3rd overall back in 2016 to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

After having a falling out with head coach John Tortorella in the 2020-21 season, Dubois was traded from the Blue Jackets to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for Patrik Laine and Jack Roslovic.
Dubois has moulded into a dynamic two-way center with a big frame, who plays like a young Pittsburgh Penguins Jordan Staal.
Over his 361 game career, Dubois has scored 102 goals and 239 points.
It was reported recently that Dubois wants to test free agency in 2024, and does not have any interest in signing long-term with the Winnipeg Jets. Almost a similar situation to the Calgary Flames and Matthew Tkachuk situation.
Dubois signed his qualifying offer the other day, which was for far less than what he would have gotten on a long-term contract. It was reported that Dubois has requested a trade and signed this team-friendly contract in hopes to hurry the trade along. The Montreal Canadiens have been apparently making trade offers for PLD, but they are unwilling to budge on the player that the Jets want in return, Nick Suzuki.
It was rumoured that Dubois attended the NHL entry draft because he believed he was getting traded that night, which to that, he has this to say:
"I read some things. It's funny. Frustrating sometimes to read them. But I saw a thing where it's like I went to the Draft thinking I was going to get traded. I went to the Draft because I live 15 minutes from the arena. I'm a fan of hockey. My bank invited me, they had a box with food and dinner. It was an entertaining night. I used to go to Drafts when I was a kid. If I was invited to go with the Jets, I would have gone with them but I got invited by my bank so I went with them. You hear stuff like I want out of Winnipeg. If I wanted out, I would have asked for a trade. I didn't ask for a trade. Not for one second. It didn't cross my mind for one second to ask for a trade. So you just see these things. Nowadays with social media it goes so fast. Articles come out every second, and some of them are 99 percent wrong. You still read it and still wonder if it's true. There's been a lot a lot a LOT of speculation. So now I'm finally happy you get to hear it from me, from the source: the man himself."
