The Pittsburgh Penguins are having a a pretty good playoff run so far, after taking game one in triple overtime, the Penguins won both games in Pittsburgh to go up 3-1 in the series. The crowd in Pittsburgh has been loud and super engaged, but one fan in particular has caught people's attention.
In Game 3, when the Penguins scored to make it a 5-4, one very happy Penguins' fan decided to try his luck and get a kiss from another fan. Needless to say she turned him down and everyone watched as it was captured by cameras.
The reaction was immediate and swift on social media, even from local legendary Pittsburgh eatery, Primanti Brothers, promised a free pastrami sandwich for the fan:
After being embarrassed on National TV, someone managed to find out who the fan was. The man in the video was identified as, Matt McHugh. McHugh was actually interviewed by The Fan 93.7 to tell his side of the story
It turns out that the woman in the video is actually his girlfriend, Jacquelyn and they have been together for nearly a decade and had already kissed in celebration following
Danton Heinen's goal, but that it was missed by the camera man.
Literally 3 seconds after the initial kiss I saw one of the TV camera men spin around towards us and I thought "Here is our opportunity to showcase our love for the Pens and each other with another kiss!" She clearly did not see the camera man and thought I was randomly going in for another kiss and the rest is history.
They know Jacquelyn very well and have been cheering her on for turning me down.
It looks like this was a happy ending after all but from the video made it seem a very different story.
