Patrick Kane had a season full of ups and downs, which ended with the Rangers getting eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. While Kane and the Rangers both shift their sights toward next season, fans have begun to point out a major issue in Patrick Kane's health, and it might have cost the Rangers.
Kane's Surgery Makes Fans Suspicious
Patrick Kane's agent announced a few days ago that Kane had undergone a hip resurfacing procedure, and would miss a few months as a result. While the procedure itself is relatively safe, fans took issue with the fact that Kane and his agent had made it seem like his hip issues were behind him.
Kane had been dealing with hip problems throughout the season, but he and his agent made it clear at the deadline that his hip problems were no longer an issue and that he was healthy for the playoffs.
Fans are now speculating that they only said he was healthy to ensure New York would trade for him, and that he was well aware of his less-than-ideal health.
If you remember correctly, New York only gave up a 2nd round pick and a 4th round pick to acquire Kane, but those draft picks could've instead been used to acquire a different, healthier player.
Values are always different at the trade deadline, and this year it was definitely a buyer's market. Those picks would've likely gone far had they been used elsewhere, but we'll never know.
