Patrice Bergeron Shuts Down A Major Rumor
The Boston Bruins have been one of the Best teams in the NHL this year despite losing both of their top centers in the offseason as Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci both chose retirement over returning to the team. Recently though, rumors emerged that Bergeron may return. Today he addressed this.
Bergeron Shuts Down Rumors That He Will Come Out Of Retirement
The former captain of the Bruins felt the need to address recent rumors that he might come out of retirement. According to Bruins reporter Steve Conroy, he emphatically stated that he is not returning to the team now, or ever.
In case anyone wanted to know, I asked Patrice Bergeron about his «comeback». Via text, he responded «I am NOT making a comeback.» His emphasis on the «NOT.» Carry on.
This comes after other sources previously noted that a Bergeron reunion with the Bruins would be highly unlikely.
A source that knows Patrice Bergeron well to me on Bergeron potentially coming out of retirement:
"I don't think Bergy' wants to be another Brett Favre. He's got too much class and respect for the game.»
Perhaps these rumors were nothing more than wishful thinking. Regardless, the Bruins still have issues with center depth that they need to address. One potential option is Canadiens center Sean Monahan, who is expected to be traded this year. The Bruins are one team that have been linked to him, but we will just have to wait and see what happens.
