The top player in free agency this year was Johnny Gaudreau after he recorded 115 points last season, but Nazem Kadri is definitely a close second who was on pace for over 100 points but missed due to injury.
Gaudreau signed a massive 7 year deal with an AAV of $9.5 million, and we see this every year, players wait until someone around their calibre sign to ''set the market'' so if Gaudreau got $9.5 million, we are going to most likely see Kadri sign somewhere for between $8-9 million.
Many teams are in need of an elite center this season, so tons of teams are probably after Kadri's services, but it turns out that just like Gaudreau who turned down offers over $10 million, everything might not be about money for Kadri either.
Many times Kadri has expressed that he loved his time in Colorado and would take a hometown discount to stay. The Avalanche are going to have some cap issues upcoming, but if Kadri really wants to win another cup and stay at the top of the mountain, Colorado is the place to stay.
