Connor Bedard was getting all the media in his first year as a superstar in the NHL. However, that came crashing down when he was injured on a questionable hit by the Devils' Brendan Smith. Now, Smith just got a heavy dose of Karma after injuring Connor Bedard a few weeks ago.
Smith Given His Karma and Placed on Injured Reserve
Karma doesn't hold back for anyone, including Brendan Smith. Unfortunately for him, he couldn't escape it, and was placed on injured reserve yesterday by the New Jersey Devils. The Devils called up defenseman
Santeri Hatakka from the Utica Comets to take his place in the lineup while he is out with an injury.
It's unfortunate news for Smith, who suffered a sprained knee, and will be out for at least the short term for the Devils.
Devils Falling Out of Contention For This Season At the Halfway Point
The Devils are hitting a rough patch in their season as we enter the latter half of the year, which is not where you want to be. At this point, it would be ideal to be looking to tune up your systems and roster before heading into the stretch. However, the Devils seem to be falling down the standings, and will have to make some moves if they want to make a push this season.
We will see how the Devils can bounce back as we enter the All-Star Break, and if they can turn the page on the season.
