Last night Eugene Melnyk the Owner of the Ottawa Senators passed away at the young age of 62. Melnyk has been apparently fighting an illness for months which was never made publich which shocked the hockey world with the Senators announcement of his passing last night.
Melnyk loved the Ottawa Senators and fought to keep the Senators in Ottawa, but with the estate now owning the Senators, the future of the team is unknown.
One thing that is known though is Shawn Simpson, Ottawa Senators insider says that there are many buyers interested.
Daniel Alfredsson has been rumoured for years to be interested in purchasing the Ottawa Senators ever since he left the Senators upper management back in 2017.
