We were only 3 days shy of being a full month into free agency, and one of the biggest head scratchers is why was the second best player and best center available is still without a contract from a team?

Kadri put up the best statistical season of his career and scored some huge goals in the playoffs en-route to helping the Avalanche win the Stanley Cup:

It was rumoured for over a week now that the New York Islanders had signed Kadri, but it was not being released or officially announced.

Kadri was originally seeking a 7 year deal with an AAV of $9 million, which many fans thought was ridiculous for a player who has only been a point per game once in his career.

At the age of 32, this 7 year deal will take him to the age of 39 and definitely put quite a bit of coin in his pocket!
