The Minnesota Wild are not used to the disappointing start they have had to the season, and their GM just let them know exactly how disappointed he is in their play to start the year.

Minnesota Wild GM Gives Players and Coaches an Earful After Slow Start

Minnesota Wild GM Bill Guerin is not happy with how the team has started the season. After back-to-back 100-point years, the Wild are currently at 5-8-4, which is not up to Guerin's standards. Before the team left for the Global Series in Sweden, Geurin held a closed-door meeting in which he didn't hold anything back.

"Was it a scream-fest? Bit of both. The one thing about Billy, when he talks, everyone respects the s out of him. That guy talks, you're gonna really, really listen." - Marcus Foligno

"It was kind of a kick in the ass, figure our s out kind of meeting. Something we definitely needed." - Ryan Hartman.

Guerin is also not shy in sharing his message with the media, in hopes that his players will get on board quickly.

"I'm not happy. I'm not happy with where we are."

"My biggest thing is our compete level. And look, guys work hard every night and they care. I know that. But it's a different type of compete and focus. I just don't think we've had it."

"It's everything from faceoffs and 50-50 puck battles to just pure execution, being in position, being in the right places to tape-to-tape passes. It all needs to be better."

Wild Drop Both Games In Sweden After Getting Yelled At By GM In Closed Door Meeting

The Wild would have had a long flight back to Minnesota, knowing that Geurin is likely not happy with the results of their Euro trip. The Wild dropped both their games in Sweden, first to the Senators in a shootout, then to the Leafs in overtime.

«They're sticking together»

🗣️ Dean Evason on the group staying positive and improving to the next one.

Clearly, the Wild are not performing up to Geurin's organizational standards and will need some more motivation to get things back on the right track.
