It's been a few weeks now since the blockbuster trade occurred between the Calgary Flames and Florida Panthers which sent Matthew Tkachuk to the Panthers in return for Jonathan Huberdeau, Mackenzie Weegar, 1st round pick and a prospect.
Since the trade occurred, many have been wondering one thing. Both Huberdeau and Weegar are on the final year of their current contracts and will be UFA's at the end of the season. What people have been wondering is, will they resign in Calgary?
Huberdeau and Calgary Flames General Manager Brad Treliving, recently met for dinner to talk about a possible extension. Both Huberdeau and Weegar said they are open to re-signing in Calgary, but if both hit the free agent market, both will rack in a pretty high pay day.
Huberdeau recently made an announcement on Twitter about choosing his jersey number and one fan believes that his statement means that he has no intentions on staying another year.
