If you're a Calgary Flames fan, this month hasn't been too nice for you, but if you're a hockey fan, you've loved all the drama and excitement. After the Calgary Flames lost Johnny Gaudreau to free agency, Matthew Tkachuk informed the Flames that he would not be signing an extension with the team and requested a trade out of Calgary.

It's not too often you see a team lose two 100 point scorers in one offseason. The Flames would then deal Tkachuk to the FLorida Panthers in exchange for Jonathan Huberdeau, Mackenzie Weegar, Cole Schwindt, and a first round draft pick.

While this was actually a great return for the Flames and atleast for the time being, was a huge win, there were apparently a few other offers that were received for Tkachuk that the Flames turned down.

Now that the smoke has cleared on the whole thing, an NHL insider mentioned there were two other teams that were trying hard for Tkachuk. One team was the St. Louis Blues who were hoping that he would follow in his fathers footsteps. The Blues reportedly offered Jordan Kyrou, Torey Krug, and a first round draft pick, which the Flames turned down. It was rumoured they offered a second trade as well which included Tarasenko, Scandella and a 1st.

The other team that was pushing for Tkachuk was the Carolina Hurricanes. We do not know the details of what was offered from the Hurricanes, but it apparently included former 12th overall pick Martin Necas.
