One of the most consistent things in the NHL since 1993 is that commissioner Gary Bettman is on the ice to present the Stanley Cup and Conn Smyth trophies every year. So when we saw Bill Daly appear to do the honours, we were a little confused on what was happening.
It turns out, funny enough, after forcing players to take constant COVID tests for 2 years, Gary Bettman himself finally fell victim to a positive test which kept him from attending the final game.
Also one of the most consistent things in the NHL is hearing Bettman get booed when he literally does anything, so we were robbed on that moment last night. But seeing him miss out on something for policies he put in place is kind of ironic.
