Everyone around hockey knows Eugene Melnyk and to call him polarizing would be an absolute understatement. The disdain for the Senators owner ranges from palpable to indifference in the Ottawa area. That's why this news will likely be free well received by Senators fans.
According to
Dam Les Coulisses two former Senators players Daniel Alfreddson and Chris Phillips are in talks to purchase the Senators along with a 3rd financial backer as part of the deal.
According to DLC this rumour has been confirmed with one well placed and trusted source, but they were unable to get it confirmed by a second.
The Senators were recently valued at $525,000,000 by Forbes Magazine.
This is an interesting situation to follow as we've heard in the past that Melnyk would consider selling the team once the Seattle Kraken had paid their league buy-in.
