Auston Matthews had a historic season last year for the Maple Leafs. He scored 60 goals and 106 points, becoming the highest scoring player in Maple Leafs history.
Matthews won the Hart Trophy last season as the leagues most valuable player and he won this over Connor McDavid who had 17 more points than Matthews.
Matthews winning over McDavid has not sat well with Oilers fans and they definitely didn't forget about it. During the Gold Medal game at the 2022 World Juniors in Edmonton, a Toronto Maple Leafs fan was spotted in attendance and was wearing an Auston Matthews jersey. The fans in Rogers Place let him know how they felt about Matthews and starting chanting ''Matthews SUCKS!''
Both of these players are obviously generational talents, and anyone who says they wouldn't want them on their team are just jealous they don't have them.
