Carolina Hurricanes Looking to Sell a Big Piece for a Haul in the Off-Season
Fortunately, money won't be an issue this year. They have $24.1 million in projected cap space for next season.
With that kind of freedom, they could decide to go after a superstar. Actually, they desperately need one. In the last five seasons, none of their players managed to score 40 goals or achieve 90 points. No one was even among the NHL's top 15 scorers.
Necas or Drury to be traded?
They have the necessary assets to trade for a star. Alongside some picks,
Martin Necas or
Jack Drury would make a great package for a team looking for depth.
Necas just had the best season of his career. He'll clearly ask for a raise in 2024 when his $3 million AAV contract ends. If the Canes don't plan to re-sign him at a high cost next year, they should consider trading him. His salary is trade-friendly, and his value has never been higher.
