Coming into Saturday nights game, the Ottawa Senators were just 4-5-0 on the season, and unfortunately, the frustration from their fans has boiled over.
On Saturday, the team hosted the Tampa Bay Lightning, and after struggling to a 6-4 loss, the boo birds came out, especially for captain
Brady Tkachuk.
Unsurprisingly, given the effort he believes they've put forth, he didn't appreciate that, and he called out the fans shortly after the game.
«It's frustrating and whenever you don't win it's frustrating,» Tkachuk said. «It's frustrating, the negativity from the outside, the constant booing and the bulls–t, kind of, from the crowd tonight.
«I understand that they're passionate fan base and I understand that they love it, but when you face adversity you don't turn your back on the guys out there. We're playing hard, I know it's frustrating right now. It's not like we're giving up out there, we're fighting right to the very end.
«To be honest, that was very frustrating tonight.»
A talented team falling short
For the past few years, this has been a team that's expected to win big games, but even with the talent of Tkachuk, Giroux, Stutzle, Chychrun and so many others, they just haven't been able to get it done.
Fans didn't hesitate to continue the criticism on social media either, and with everything going on around this team, things could get ugly soon, with both sides seemingly getting very hostile.
