Brad Treliving has officially joined the Toronto Maple Leafs front office, and he kicked off his new journey with a press conference this morning. Maple Leafs President Brendan Shanahan joined Treliving for the press conference, and they revealed a major update on Treliving's status as GM.
Treliving Won't Participate in the Upcoming Draft
During his press conference today, Brad Treliving revealed that he wouldn't be present at the Leafs' table for this upcoming draft. While this may come as a shock to many, there's a good reason for it.
Treliving Has an Agreement With Calgary
According to Treliving, he has an agreement in place that will prevent him from sitting at the Leafs' draft table this year.
This is to prevent him from sharing any information he has on Calagry's draft list with the rest of the Maple Leafs draft team. Of course, there are many ways that Treliving and the Leafs can work around this, whether it be by text, phone call, or meeting ahead of time.
It's not like Treliving will be missing out on much, as the Leafs only own three picks in the upcoming draft. Next year, Treliving will be allowed to be a full participant.
