Brad Marchand was issued a 6 game suspension for his actions against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night and it doesn't sound like Marchand is going to accept the suspension lying down. Today for the first time Marchand commented on the suspension issued to him by Georges Parros and the Department of NHL Player Safety.

Marchand started off by sharing that he's definitely considering appealing the suspension due to the length of it's nature and the lack of injury suffered by Jarry on the play.
During his press availabilty today Marchand issued the following comments about the length of his suspension, how he felt and what he thinks the leagues decision was based upon.
"Very, very hefty suspension for these plays. The only way they can justify that is on the history side of things."
"Was it stupid? Of course it was stupid. I'm not denying that. I absolutely should not have done it. But suspension-worthy? I don't think so. These plays were not going to injure Jarry. No potential injury on that play. He was very well protected. The fact that it's six games is based on history, not on the play."
"We believe the last suspension (for slewfooting) was very hefty when I got three games. It should have been one, based on the fact that I've turned my game around and become a pretty good player in this league... Which ultimately set me up for this one."
"I'm not going to justify that what I did was right. But this was a very, very deep suspension for these actions."
"I'm an emotional guy. I always have been. It'll never change. That part of me will never change. I'll never want it to change, because that's what makes me the player I am. It's just making sure it's reined in."
