During tonight's game between the Boston Bruins and Edmonton Oilers, Brad Marchand sustained what appeared to be a potentially severe injury during the opening minute. While colliding with Oilers' defenceman Darnell Nurse, Marchand's right ankle was accidentally struck by Nurse's skate. The impact caused Marchand to immediately fall in agony. Nonetheless, he was able to exit the ice with the assistance of both teams' medical personnel and head to the locker rooms.
At present, there is limited information available regarding the severity of the injury, but the Sportsnet broadcast has confirmed that Marchand has been injured. Unfortunately, the incident looked terrible, and we can only hope that Marchand will recover quickly and return to the game in due course.
Luckily Marchand has returned to the game.
