The St. Louis Blues and Minnesota Wild are set to face off in 3 days at the NHL Winter Classic, but that didn't stop the two teams from making a minor trade today.
In the deal the Minnesota Wild acquire forward Nolan Stevens. Stevens is a 25 year old forward who is playing his 4th year of professional hockey and is currently with the Springfield Thunderbirds. The former 5th round pick in 2016 has 3 goals and 9 assists in 20 games this season. Stevens is yet to play an NHL game, but could potentially see a call up or taxi squad assignment with the Wild.
The St. Louis Blues receive William "Will" Bitten. Bitten was drafted in the 3rd round by the Montreal Canadiens in 2016. Bitten was traded from Montreal to Minnesota in 2018, but was never able to crack the Minnesota Wild's NHL roster. Bitten has 3 goals and 5 assists in 23 games this season for the Iowa Wild.
This will be a fresh start for both players who are likely on their last teams before being considered career minor leaguers.
