The Chicago Blackhawks struck gold when they won the 2023 NHL Entry Draft Lottery, winning the right to select Canadian phenom, Connor Bedard. Despite many fans' protests of the Blackhawks winning the lottery given the recent controversy surrounding their organization, they will make the pick, and have the first chance to select Bedard.
Blackhawks Could Go Another Route
A series of Tweets posted by the Blackhawks yesterday concerned some Blackhawks fans, and for good reason. The Tweets seemed to hint that the Blackhawks weren't committed to Bedard at 1st overall, and could go another direction with the pick.
The first Tweet is rather vague, with no indication that Bedard would be the pick, but the second video is where it gets interesting. While none of these players are better than Bedard, they're usually the next three named in many draft lists. The players in question are:
It will be interesting to see if Chicago decides to go against virtually every public scouting list available and take another plater instead of Bedard. Hawks fans won't be resting until the draft!
