Wayne Simmonds, who announced his retirement from the NHL yesterday, didn't waste a second before throwing his former team under the bus.
In a new interview, the player made a major declaration concerning the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Simmonds Destroys The Leafs After Retirement
The former player candidly shared that while he enjoyed his time with the Maple Leafs, things didn't turn out the way he would've wanted despite a lot of gratitude.
"Nice to be able to play at home. From the playing aspect, it wasn't what I hoped ... I'm still grateful to the organization for allowing me to put on the Maple Leaf. That's an iconic jersey. It's something that I'll never forget."
Later in the interview, Simmonds opened up on Ryan Reaves, who's currently going through the same kind of path in Toronto.
"A little bit of a tough time at the beginning of the season, but I don't think he got too many opportunities to actually be able to do what he can do. That's just me knowing how it happened for me. Feel like it's going much of the same for him."
