We have been constantly writing about how exciting the waiver wire is this year, and today just topped the whole season.
Just a few years ago now, the Detroit Red Wings made a trade with the Washington Capitals, to send Anthony Mantha to Washington for Jakub Vrana and some draft picks.
Neither player were able to stay healthy for a full season to truly see who won the trade, but after some time in the NHLPA's substance abuse program, Vrana was cleared just a few weeks ago to return to playing.
It was now just announced that the Detroit Red Wings have placed Vrana on waivers.
Vrana has been one of the best goal scoring 5on5 players in the league since he became a full-time NHL player. With hardly being given any Powerplay time, he has still managed to score goals at a very high rate. He also played a very crucial role in helping the Washington Capitals win their first ever stanley cup!
Vrana has two years remaining on a contract that pays $5,250,000.
