We've seen quite a few players placed on waivers this year and the latest has been from the Seattle Kraken.
Michael Kempny is a an undrafted NHL player who began his career with the Chicago Blackhawks.
After just over 1 season with the Blackhawks, he was traded to the Washington Capitals, where he formed a very good duo with Capitals star defenceman
John Carlson and played a major role in helping them win a stanley cup.
In 2020 Kempny was injured and since then his career has never really recovered. He missed the entire 2020-21 season, only making it into 2 AHL games, and bounced between the Capitals and Hershey Bears last season when healthy, but never quite found his game.
This year he signed a one year deal with the Seattle Kraken worth $750,000, but it does not seem that the two are getting along, so he has been placed on waivers for the purpose of termination.
