BREAKING: Former Fourth Overall Pick Makes Shocking Decision to Sign In Italy
A former 4th overall pick has shocked everybody by signing in Italy.
The 2003 4th overall pick, Nikolai Zherdev, has signed in the 2nd tier Italian hockey league.
Zherdev was originally picked by the Columbus Blue Jackets as a player with immense skill but his NHL tenure was brief. He scored at a fair rate with the Blue Jackets, Rangers, and Flyers before leaving for Russia over a decade ago.
He played in the KHL for the majority of his career and over the past five years, Zherdev has bounced around leagues including the VHL, Belarusian league, Italian league, and Slovakian league.
At 38 years old, it seems as if his hockey career is standing on its last legs.
