BREAKING: Former 40 goal scorer reportedly DONE for the season
We know that hockey players will play through any injury they can to help their team win, but sometimes in rare cases it's just not possible. No player ever wants to be sitting on the sidelines watching, they all want to be in the lineup helping their team, even if they are not a cup contending team, but unfortunately this one player is going to have to watch his team for the remainder of the season instead of helping.
Cam Atkinson joined the Flyers last season in a trade from Columbus for fan favourite Jacob Voracek. He scored 23 goals and 50 points last season on a losing Flyers team. One of the most underrated players in the NHL, you can almost always peg this guy in for 20+ goals and 40+ points every year.
Atkinson has missed all of this season so far with an injury, but reports coming last week made it sound like he was trending towards a return:

But news today is now coming out that Atkinson is being shut down for the season and undergoing surgery.
Being reported by Anthony SanFilippo, a writer for CrossingBroad.com, Atkinson is being shut down for the season due to a non-orthopedic medical procedure.
Multiple reports out there, @AntSanPhilly was first, indicate that former #CBJ Cam Atkinson could be done for the season, if not longer.
No word from him or the Flyers yet. But obviously a tough situation as he was trying to work his way back.
