The Calgary Flames have just announced that they have signed veteran defenseman Mark Pysyk to a contract.
Pysyk has played in 521 career NHL games scoring over 100 points in the process. He has played with the Sabres, Panthers, and Stars, and was released from a PTO with the Penguins just last month.
The Flames have already traded away defenseman Nikita Zadorov and are rumored to be moving out Noah Hanifin and Chris Tanev closer to the trade deadline. This looks to be Calgary getting some more depth on D in case they are unable to get a replacement for Hanifin or Tanev when they move them out.
